Evaluation Four

Aid to Evalution Four: Interviews and Insight to Target Audience

Evaluation Four : Text form

Who would be the audience for your media product?

My product would appeal to ages 16-25, they are young adults who are maturing and starting to become more independent and exploring their own freedom and having as much fun as they can before adulthood comes. It is also the stage where they are most individual and unique in terms of their own style and mentality. They’re not prone to stereotyping and understand the public better than their earlier teenage years. Also they are more likely to socialise and go to different events independently and go out and meet new and different people. The majority of my target audience will either be in collage, sixth form, working or in university so there is always a lot of different socialisation around them; furthermore there is a lot of fresher’s night and cheap nights out so they will have the spare money to buy my magazine.

In their spare time when they are not in education or working they will be going out to different events whether it is raves, clubs, parties, gigs concerts or just a local drink at the pub, also occasionally they will also be gatherings of friends and they will play drinking games and dance. In the day time there is a lot of socialising by going to the local shopping centres, going down to Skate Park, graffiti centres, producing artistic materials or even just watching TV and spending time on social websites such as facebook and twitter. A lot of my target audience will also be quite committed to a hobby some may be interested in dancing, dj’ing, graphics, photography.

As my target audience usually have quite a hectic life a lot of the time they will not have time to eat proper meals and will normally go for fast food or food which is unhealthy and sugary. This keeps their sugar levels up and they are able to go on about their day. However if they do get hangovers they will always go for a cup of coffee or tea to warm themselves up.

Boys they have a simplistic but bold look, they all have the similar sort of shirts and trousers but they can vary in different ways like colours, texture and style. They all seem to look comfortable and seen as ‘cool’. A lot of them wear hoodies, this suggests that they are always ready for the weather as they go out all the time and are prepared for the worse. Many of the boys will wear things like snapbacks and woolly hats. This is just part of the style and enhances their overall look.

For girls there are a variety of different looks compared to the boys, for the girls there are styles where they are bold and extravagant for example extreme dyed hair and bold makeup and revealing clothes. Or they have a cute simplistic look with minimal makeup and natural wavy hair; also the clothes they wear are occasionally quite floral and delicate. Another look for girls would be the ‘guy’ look where they also wear the skinny jeans plain hoody, trainers and cap this suggests that they don’t care about their appearance and will dress however they want. There is a big interest in tattoos and piercings, they all have quite bold or unique tattoos and not the usual everyday tattoos you see on average people. For example they would have full sleeves of tattoos or unique delicate designs going down their backs or they may have something that is very personal to them. Piercings are also quite popular, main areas of ears, tongues and lip having piercings on the tongue and lip are quite rebellious and many people would despise of them. But being of the social group they do not care about what the community think.

The people in my target audience are quite creative; they have an eye for being bold and individual. So many people in my target audience are aspiring, photographers, fashion/graphics designers, producers, Dj’s, singers, dancers and beauticians. They are all really determined and not willing to give up their dream easily, this tells me they are hard workers and risk takers. The real life and inspiring stories in my media product will engage with the reader and make them feel belonging and keep them going.

I found this part of my evaluation very easy as I had previously written a detailed analysis of my audience in my audience profile, this meant that I was able to copy the analysis and just change it around.
